Welcome to Feature Friday, where you’ll discover a new entrepreneurial story about the power of using your voice to spark freedom, release fresh ideas, and build a legacy each week. The goal of these stories is to offer sparks of inspiration that can be woven into your journey.
I was recently introduced to Annette Jalbert. We connected instantly when we got on Zoom for a brief coffee chat. She is bubbly and fun, and she also has a way of dropping unexpected nuggets of wisdom that knock you off your socks and make you think, “Wow, that was exactly what I needed to hear!”
I love it when people use their voices to inspire and encourage, and Annette effortlessly does just that.
To keep our conversation going, I recently interviewed her for the RV Entrepreneur podcast, which I co-host. Her episode will debut in a few months. Until then, I couldn’t wait to share her story and a few of those nuggets of wisdom with you here on Featured Friday.
Meet Annette.

What is your name and what do you do?
Hi, I’m Annette Jalbert, Registered Counsellor and Creator of Deliberately Designed Life.
How do you seek adventure on the open road?
We love to explore, hike, and see “new to us” areas. We love to meet new people, and most of the time, each of them has a YOU HAVE TO GO SEE or DO THIS….
What inspired you to start this business?
I was actually a school counselor and, RV park business owner, real estate investor with rental properties all at the same time. After burning the candle at both ends and hitting burnout, I scaled back and then I decided to pick back up the counselling as we had decided when our youngest graduate we try to because snow chicks or snow birds in training, because we were too young to be retired. Covid showed the world that we could connect online, and at that point, I could see the future of taking my business and clients with me. It has been our dream to travel south for the winters and now we get to do just that.
What do you like most about your business?
I love the helping profession and serving my clients, but I love travel too. So now I am marrying the two and continuing to build my next level version of my deliberately designed life
What’s going through your audience’s mind when they come to you for help?
Well, that truthfully depends. As counselors, we can see it all. It is literally a one-by-one case.
How have you designed your business to run while you roam?
As mentioned above, being able to see clients via Zoom has been a game changer in taking counseling on the road and seeing clients from all over.
What challenges have you faced by running a business from the road?
I am still learning to balance work and being a tourist. As we continue the adventures, I am sure that it will get easier to find flow.
If you had to start over again, what would you do differently?
Honestly, nothing we have been traveling and running some form of business since we were in our early 40s, and each year it just gets better and better
What’s the biggest compliment you’ve ever received?
My clients still prefer seeing me face-to-face so it is a bit of an adjustment for them, however, we are all adapting
What are you getting excited about right now?
Doing the travel even more… goal is a full 6 months next and then once we decide to let go of the RV park, go in the RV full-time.
Where can we connect with you?
