Welcome to the new column, Feature Friday, where every week, I’ll introduce you to a Roadpreneur who is building a business that lets them RV more often (maybe even full-time). Through these stories, you’ll see sparks of inspiration that can be woven into your own journey and go behind the scenes of other people’s businesses that are successfully growing from the road.

I’m not someone you’d call handy, yet I love the idea of taking our home on wheels and turning it into something that’s more us. That’s where this week’s guest comes in.

Alex and Austin Gibson share a wealth of valuable insight around repairing and upgrading your RV — and they share those insights on their YouTube channel while living a life that lets them RV more often. I have a heart for people who not only do the work but also help others do the work (teach a man to fish, right?), so their business has caught my eye.

Introducing: The Handy Couple.

What is your name and what do you do?

Alex & Austin Gibson, The Handy Couple

How do you seek adventure on the open road?

We enjoy exploring new places in nature, but with a thrilling side! We like to take our side by side to new places, riding trails, finding fun swimming holes, and seeing all kinds of creatures in the woods!

What inspired you to start this business?

We love sharing “how to” & “mistakes not to make” in diy projects on our camper. I feel there is always a need to educate on something, because that is 50% of how we learn & the other 50% being trial & error.

What do you like most about your business?

We love connecting with people, showing people how to stretch their dollar the right ways, teaching others how they can do their own repairs & projects, showing people how to have adventures without traveling far or at home, & just being real with people!

What’s going through your audience’s mind when they come to you for help?

I hope my audience is watching us for tips on repairs & upgrades, helping them have a different mindset on adventure, & finding our content has humor behind it.

How have you designed your business to run while you roam?

Parts of it, yes, but we are a hands on type of business & there is always something to learn or teach.

What challenges have you faced by running a business from the road?

We are not full time rvers, so we are able to come back home & take care of things as needed.

If you had to start over again, what would you do differently?

Nothing! Our life wouldn’t be the same if we didn't have failures. I truly believe you learn & grow from your mistakes & you should never regret anything.

What’s the biggest compliment you’ve ever received?

Our knowledge on how to fix things at the drop of a hat.

What are you getting excited about right now?

Connecting with new people either on the platforms or on our travels!

Where can we connect with you?
